Monthly Trade Data

U.S. hides and skins June 2021 export data is now available. Get a summary of the data here.

  • Cured cattle hides exports rose 69 percent in volume and 59 percent in value compared to 2020. Download the data here.
  • Wet blue shipments increased 40 percent in volume and 38 percent in value. Vietnam was the largest buyer by value, totaling more than $58.8 million.
  • Pig skin exports fell 10 percent in volume, but increased 3 percent in value compared to 2020. Download the data here.

  • LHCA joined a coalition letter calling on the Biden Administration to restart trade negotiations with China and cut tariffs on imports. Read it here.
  • The Federal Maritime Commission has launched an expedited inquiry into the timing and legal sufficiency of certain surcharges imposed by ocean carriers. More here.
  • LHCA urged Senators to pass the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which would provide critical benefits for the U.S. agriculture sector, in a letter sent to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Weekly Hides and Skins Stats 

  • Net sales of cured cattle hides reported for the period ending July 29, 2021, were 265,200 pieces and net sales of wet blue were 49,200 pieces. Reported shipments of cured hides were 331,700 and of wet blue were 68,200. China was the largest buyer of cured hides and Italy was the largest destination for wet blue. See more.   • U.S. Cattle Slaughter was 641,000 last week, a decrease of 1.2 percent from the previous week. Total cattle slaughter in 2021 is 19,886,000 head, up 4.4 percent from the same period in 2020. See more.
  • USDA AMS Major Packer Hide Price Report provided prices for six types of hides at six price points, with a spread of $22 for branded southwest cows to $58 for butt branded steers. See more.
